Although this was a hard decision with considerable internal disagreement over the proper approach to take, Stacy Litz is no longer a member of the staff of, or otherwise involved with, the Center for a Stateless Society. The Center has terminated the position of social media specialist previously occupied by Ms. Litz. However the future status of Students for a Stateless Society is resolved, so long as it is affiliated with C4SS in any way, Ms. Litz will not be associated with it. The Center has no plans to employ her in a paid or volunteer capacity.
The revelation of Ms. Litz’s involvement with the police is deeply troubling to the Center board, as it should be to anyone who values freedom. Although this action is not a punitive measure directed against Ms. Litz and we wish her well in her desire to redeem herself, the Center believes it is vital that all those interacting with it be confident that they will not be put at risk in any way by undisclosed involvement with the state on the part of any one associated with the Center.

Well, that's a bummer. I think the right decision was made however.
what was her involvement with the police?
She was charged with seven felonies after selling soft drugs to an undercover Philly cop. She agreed to work as an informant in order to reduce the charges. She ended up getting three of her ex-friends arrested. That's all I know.
My recent post Living Free On May Day
The cops have upped it to thirteen felonies.
I was listening to Todd Andrew Barnett's radio show today. He had Stacy talk about her side of the story. The first person who called in told Stacy that she has no chance of getting off easy in this case, that it's almost certain she's going to prison, and suggested that she leave the country.

Isn't an informant's testimony during trial important to the prosecution? If she's unavailable because she left the country or unwilling to testify at their trials, a lot of the "evidence" will be unavailable for the prosecutor's use. If she was truly trying to redeem herself, she'd do one of those two things. Those she threw under the bus may get off under those circumstances. Hopefully.
should read DRUGWARVICTIMIZER
Thank god I was stressing over this.
Zak, you can find her story here: http://drugwarvictim.blogspot.com/

This one is better.
WOW!!!
Woah…this I knew nothing about.
Kind of scary too. Hits home about the world we live in.
One of the hazards of radicalism; infiltration.
I would like to know who came down on which side.
On the question of whether to fire Stacy or not?
This is why you don't give druggies and people involved in illegal activities positions of leadership in dissident political movements. A "prominent libertarian" who is dealing dope is a sitting duck as is anyone else around them.
C4SS had no idea Stacy was working as an informant (or was even selling drugs for that matter).
My recent post Living Free On May Day
That's good to hear. C4SS has done the right thing by tossing her.
This is actually the reason drug laws were expanded to the kind of thing we see today: to turn political activists into criminals that could be tried and imprisoned.
FWIW – Government informants are often far more dangerous than they appear. There is no reason to assume that informants will constrain themselves to the facts…And you don’t need to buy drugs from them to get busted. All that is necessary is that you allegedly told them where they might procure illicit substances. Thanks, Jim.
And always remember that good treatment on THEIR crimes is generally conditioned on how well they can sell others out, whether it's going "up the chain" or "across the board." So the more the snitch (to give a thing its right name) can get, the merrier his handlers will be.

I feel bad for all involved.Keep your heads up Keep fighting the good fight .
She rolled over and was out of jail in 6 hours by her own account…
C4SS made the right decision. I wouldn't want anything to do with her or anyone who's willing to continue to be associated with her. I agree with one of the callers on Liberty Cap Live last night that said she should be ostracized. While I don't support throwing anyone in jail for drugs I hope she knows she got what she deserves. She retardedly thought that by being an informant she would escape prosecution and now she has 13 felony charges pending against her. Play with the pigs and that's what you get, they are not there to help you or shield you from charges for helping bust YOUR FRIENDS; their job is to lock you and your friends in a rape cage.
well done.
the piling on of charges is a common tactic of the DA's who have a virtual smorgy of charges they can bring. poor ms. litz for not knowing that her agreement to cooperate would be seen as a sign of weakness that would be shat upon by a corrupt state functionary with no sense of honor.
she should have invoked her right to counsel, demanded immunity or just paid bail and split…but instead she got ROLLED by the system and continues to get rolled even after her "cooperation". shame on all of them for having no honor or morals.
i am always amused that the "progressive" or "liberal' or "democrat" types are blind to the oppression that their boy Obama is delivering by way of his DOJ and such…what a bunch of chumps. i am also amused that the common plea of the amrijuana fans is "let's legalize it and tax it"…equally moronic. delivering tax money to the DC behemoth is like gas on a fire. let's just RE-legalize it and get to bigger problems.
I have watched Stacy struggle through this entire dilemma and I am still very shocked at C4SS for not having the decency to remove her name from this post. This is the first thing to pop up on Google. And she recently lost her job because of it.
You libertarians and anarchists always talk about non-aggression, well you have this entire girl's future in your hands and you choose to continue to f*** her over. While you all like to imagine your utopian world, we live in something called the "real world" — and it sucks I know but you have hurt her chances of ever being successful.
Even after all the support she gave you and still does. Shame. I hope she gets sent to jail so maybe you loonies will finally be satisfied since nothing else works to feed your egos.
On Facebook, she said she blames the libertarian movement for ruining her life, due to their (understandable) reaction to this whole ordeal. I feel bad for her going through the living hell that she's faced with, but I have a hard time being on her side when she resorts to the usual "it was in my own self-interest to be an informant!" excuse. The backlash is what anyone would expect.
My recent post When Walking In Manchester, NH
No, her FUTURE was HER responsibility & she threw it away by making another choice: to make quick money selling drugs when she knew exactly what the consequences would be. No one ruined Stacy's life but Stacy Litz. C4SS is well within ethical bounds to inform the community about her untrustworthiness & to publicly disassociate from her & they would be stupid not to. Why should they take this post down or take her name off of it? Who would want to be connected with an individual that is working with the enemy? To whomever continues to associate with her with this knowledge, you are a fool.
