Dear C4SS Supporters,
It’s been a slow week in some ways, and an encouraging one in others, as you’ll see when I go through the week’s “pickups.”
First, submissions: This week, I made 7,609 C4SS op-ed submissions to 2,833 publications. That’s a little below average, but it really just represents one less “worldwide” submission than usual. That’s how things fell out cycle-wise in terms of how much content was available, how fast I could send it, and to whom it was useful to send it.
Next, pickups. Only five of them, but interesting ones:
- The Tehran, Iran Times picked up two of our pieces this week — Kevin Carson’s “Beware of Humanitarians with Bombs,” on April 2 and David D’Amato’s “Self-Determination and Ivory Coast” on April 7. We’ve only had one Times pickup in the past, so two in a week is very encouraging.
- D’Amato’s “Self Determination and Ivory Coast” also ran in the Seoul, Republic of Korea Times on April 6 — and on April 7, Seoul’s JoonAng Ilbo ran “Revolution Not Replication,” also by D’Amato.
- D’Amato’s “The State’s Money Trees” ran in Sagittarius News & Style Magazine (a publication of the Baltic Review which circulates in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Germany) on April 5 and in the St. Joseph, Missouri Telegraph on April 7.
So, five pickups — in seven countries on three continents, and a continuing development of C4SS outreach in those countries. Yes, I’d like more raw “pickups,” but an ongoing market anarchist media presence in places where there’s likely been little or no such presence in decades (at least!) is nothing to sniff at.
Have a great weekend and I’ll have more numbers for you next Friday, assuming we’re not all consumed by fire or otherwise discommoded this weekend.
Yours in liberty,
Tom Knapp
