Healthcare: A Crisis of Artificial Scarcity
By Kevin Carson
“In healthcare, subsidies to the most costly and high-tech forms of medicine crowd out cheaper and decentralized alternatives, so that cheaper forms of treatment – even when perfectly adequate from the consumer’s standpoint – become less and less available. There are powerful institutional pressures for ever more radical monopoly. At the commanding heights of the centralized atate and centralized corporate economy – so interlocked as to be barely distinguishable – problems are analyzed and solutions prescribed from the perspective of those who benefit from radical monopoly.”

Kevin, an excellent piece of work, as usual. I was unaware of just how extensive the workers association and lodge healthcare systems were, and I am particularly grateful that you documented this. The best test for whether a thing will work is that it does work or has worked.
I believe your paper validates the approach I took in my new book (due out this summer from ISI). If you have a chance, I would like like you to glance at the section on health care while I can still make changes. http://distributism.blogspot.com/2009/04/chapter-xvii-distributism-and-health.html
Excellent piece that deserves much greater exposure.
The interesting thing about when there is a problem there is always a soulution in every sence of the word. Everyday I watch people learning to read their bodies and learn to balance. I work for Wholefoods, and even my heavenly family surrounding our lives are growing into nurturing their vessels first so they can expamd and express theirselves to the highest potential. As I tell so many it is learning how to love yourself. You cannot take care of others if you do not take care of yourself first. We have some of the most selfless people who take care of so many others but they have not put theirselves into the picture. My question to you is 'How can you take care of others if you do not take care of yoursel?
I have lots of medical heavenly family who come into our stores each day. They too have to balance to do their hard jobs. We are all here for a purpose. God did not give yu this vessel not to love it. It is truly your gift to give back from. I pray you love yourself first, and you will see how much easier it is to help others. Yu will be able to laugh, hug,, and especially love. As I ask so many
Why do you work? Make your book of memories happy ones. Joni Naomi
That's very informative! Well as we all know that only people that are rich can be granted some good healthcare. If your not rich you cannot undergo a treatment.
