People must live consciously and run their societies consciously. Our biggest problem is the search for a system that will automatically turn out the best result. That is fetishizing "isms" whether it's communism or capitalism. The five year plans didn't work and neither has deregulated capitalism. We should have a society of informed individuals working together for common ends, not the chaos of individual sales and purchases, at least for the necessities of life. Use markets to determine what unnecessary goods and services are needed. Use informed participatory democracy to plan for the necessities of life.
