My point wasn’t that WikiLeaks is itself unnecessary just that it shouldn’t be relied on as a central organization for trying to combat the state.

I love what WikiLeaks is doing but I feel many people (especially those who just want a small government) overglorify the organization and not the individuals who got it there. Without people like Assange who knows how WikiLeaks would be and that’s my main point.

We need more individuals like Assange and Manning who are willing to stand up to the state (and in Assange’s case) and set up organizations to then combat it in some meaningful way. The individuals should be first and the organizations second.
