Lord Metroid has it right. The best approach is agorism. Avoiding government and operating realistic, individualist, sensible markets. Not confronting the powers that be, not giving the establishment a taste of its own medicine, but continuing to do what makes sense in light of the established truths of the market.

It isn't a matter of breaking the laws and shouting hell no. It is better to simply ignore them, as Lord Metroid says. Go about your business.

The reality of digital copyright is that it doesn't work. You can't put a genie back in the bottle in the middle of a hurricane.

Technologies like virtual privacy services, tunneling, privacy networking, etc., and e-mail encryption are available, open source, easily implemented, and you can get services that do all the tech stuff for you from my friends at Cryptohippie.com and elsewhere. If you do things right, or even carefully and only a little bit wrong, you can have considerable privacy and freedom of information on the 'net. The more people who do, the more privacy and freedom all those who do so can enjoy.

That these technologies drive the vested economic and political interests mad with anger, fear, and jealousy is a good thing. Poetic justice.
